Week 3 + 4 / July / 2014

 
 

My father, pictured above, lives above Boulder in his mountain house up Sunshine Canyon. This living situation has both benefits and disadvantages, with wildlife falling into either (or sometimes both) categories. In this case, he had an unusual run in with a bear. While I don't know the context for his decision, for some reason he left part of a Blackjack Pizza sitting in his car overnight. Perhaps not the smartest idea, but the bears around Boulder County generally aren't aggressive enough to break into one's hard-top car for leftovers. Or so we thought.

When he came back to his car the next morning, he discovered a set of muddy bear prints adorning the drivers side handle. Amusing, but probably a fluke, he thought- until he noticed that the same prints were on every single door handle. It appears the bears have learned a trick or two...
